SSB 5-Day Process Overview

📌 Day 1: OIR (Officer Intelligence Rating) Test + PPDT (Picture Perception & Description Test). Screening test — only ~50% qualify.
📌 Day 2: Psychological Tests — TAT (Thematic Apperception Test), WAT (Word Association), SRT (Situation Reaction Test), SDT (Self Description Test).
📌 Day 3–4: GTO Tasks — Group Discussion, Group Planning Exercise, Progressive Group Task, Half Group Task, Command Task, Final Group Task, Lecturette.
📌 Day 5: Personal Interview (PI) — 30 to 60 minutes 1-on-1 with an interviewing officer. Covers personality, general awareness, family background.

Who can appear for NDA?+
Unmarried male/female candidates who have passed or are appearing in Class XII with PCM. Age: 16.5–19.5 years on joining date.
How many papers in NDA exam?+
2 papers: Paper 1 — Mathematics (300 marks, 2.5 hours) and Paper 2 — GAT/English+GK (600 marks, 2.5 hours). Total: 900 marks.
When is the NDA exam held?+
UPSC conducts NDA exam twice a year: NDA-I (April notification, exam in April) and NDA-II (June notification, exam in September).
What is SSB interview?+
Services Selection Board — 5-day assessment of personality, leadership and fitness. Worth 900 marks. Final merit = Written (900) + SSB (900) = 1800 marks.
Is there a physical fitness test?+
Yes. After SSB interview clearance, selected candidates undergo medical examination at designated Military Hospitals.
